The Star Spangled Banner comes to SLA Home Games!

O, say can you sing the “Star Spangled Banner”? Recently we had student auditions to sing our favorite national anthem at SLA home games. The tough part is over.

The students have done a great job and you will soon hear what I’m talking about. We have very talented students at our school.

That talent surely comes from God and perhaps by inspiration from you. Therefore, the same offer is extended to you. If you would like to open one of our home games, please call, stop by or e-mail me (
pholder@slanc.org) to let me know you would like to share your gift with our student body and guests at SLA.

Love and Blessings,

In Jounalism class we are continuing to produce the "Knight's Table" online newspaper.

I want to thank all of the teachers for your participation in helping us put out the Knight's Table with your "Class News" articles and information on your various field trips. Keep them coming and we'll try our best to cover them.

We are also gearing up to begin the creation of the 2009/2010 Yearbook.

Now that we have had a few events like Grandparent's Day, the Fall Festival, Pig Pickin, field trips, etc. and the school pictures have now been taken, we will soon start to bring the yearbook to life.

This will just be the beginning of many events to come but we now have a good place to start and we should be staying busy all the way up until the yearbook press deadline.

Staff & Students: Don't forget to send me your SLA pictures taken throughout the year. They just might end up in the Knight's Table and/or the yearbook. Email them to:

Bonjour,

What’s new in French class or “Quoi de neuf”?

Our French vocabulary is expanding rapidly.  We learn between 20 to 30 new words every week plus grammar rules on how to form sentences and questions.  In French I, we have worked on the days of the week, the months of the year, holidays, the weather, things around the school and school subjects.

Our sentences are getting a little longer from week to week as we are learning about adverbial expressions and how to conjugate verbs (ending in –er) in the present tense.  In French II, our vocabulary lessons have been mostly on verbs, telling time, colors, articles of clothing, and questions to ask when shopping.

In grammar, we have mastered conjugating verbs at the present tense and are now concentrating on irregular verbs.  Great job girls for keeping up with your studies.

Want to learn a new French expression this month?

What’s new? - Quoi de neuf?
Not much. - Pas grand-chose.

A bientot,

Madame Marie Kemp

Computer Class -
9th Grade Computer

In our class we are learning a lot of things about Microsoft Excel.

We just finished an assignment named bake sale.

We had to plan a bake sale for our school. We took surveys and collected data.

We also graphed our data. This assignment was very fun and educational!

We learned how to make pie graphs and line graphs to represent the data we collected.

We have learned so much in class and Mrs. Gales is a very good computer teacher!

We look forward to having her for the rest of the semester!

"Can I Clay With You"

Over the past several weeks many of the Art Students have had the opportunity to work with Sculpy Clay.

The students were asked to design items that they could donate to be sold at this years Fall Festival.

We wanted to have a "paint your own" craft table, where adults and children would be able to select items that they could paint themselves and take home at the end of the evening.

Designs ranged from something simple like a heart magnet to food inspired designs.

In doing the project the students really got to tap into their creative sides and excersise their creative licsence.

In addition to being creative with the clay, the students discovered how theraputic play with clay could be.

So the next time you are feeling a little stressed, don't just work it out, clay it out instead.
